Why I started this blog…

Standard

On March 16, 2015 our daughter Emma was officially diagnosed as Autistic. This was after several months of speech and occupational therapy, after many meetings and assessments with different educators and after many sleepless nights of not knowing. The diagnosis was not important to us as far as her being labeled because she was still the same beautiful, funny and amazing little girl to us no matter the diagnosis. The diagnosis was important as far as her getting the help she needs. Everyone we have met through this process has been so amazing and had it not been for these amazing people we would not know about all the help out there for our little girl. In the beginning we knew something wasn’t right because Emma was delayed in her speech. We didn’t know until she started speech therapy about all all the programs in our county that she was eligible for. That’s one reason I started this blog. I want to share everything I have learned with people in my community who may be lost or confused. I also want to share the amazing progress our little angel has made and will continue to make. I think its also therapeutic for me to write and get some of this off my chest. Its an amazing adventure we have been on with Emma but also very frustrating, hard and emotional. We also have a 6 year old bright, funny, and outgoing son named Keaghan who is also on this adventure with us. This has been hard trying to share this with him and trying to get him to understand. I’m an amateur photographer and pretty much everyone is these days and this is one of the ways I love to share Emma’s progress and her amazing personality. I hope for those of you who follow this blog will enjoy it and get some helpful information as well as some comic relief or some emotional relief because this is a “beautiful struggle.” Please leave any comments or ask any questions. If I don’t know the answers I will do anything in my power to find the answer. I hate that I have to add this but I will…..only positive comments regarding our Emma please. Any negative comments will be deleted, however I do welcome constructive criticism regarding myself or this blog. Thank you!I hope you enjoy!
